a hula of a good time

we have been a little crazy around here adjusting to our new school schedule.
and it's been surprising how full my hands still are with only one at home!
we are adjusting, and in due time we will hit our stride,
until then we will squeeze it all in as best we can.
the weekend before school started we had some big events to celebrate. and celebrate we did.
we were lucky to have more cousins come to visit us, although this time they stayed with Grandma and Grandpa rather than us. although the offer is always open - we have a little room to spare! with the addition of more family Grandma wasted no time in making a grand celebration, in honor of our fabulous uncle who is really worth celebrating.
the girls spent the better part of the week making decorations and learning the hula. they loved learning the steps, singing the tune, and especially wearing the little grass skirts and flowers. when evening finally arrived, everyone arrived in their best Hawaiian garb and we were easily transported to a far away tropical island, complete with palm trees and ocean breezes. the girls loved every second of it. and I think Grandma enjoyed having their complete and quiet attention for those moments as well. the evening was something we will remember for years to come. with a little thanks from "a little brown girl, in a little grass shack, in a little grass skirt, in Hawaii" but more thanks to Grandma.
